How to Become a Virtual Assistant

Hi friends,

Have you ever thought of working from your home? I’m sure you have as I know that I have! I work from home with my business consulting business on a part-time basis. I work full time in home care administration -and I love it!

If you’re serious about taking your work-from-home position to the next level, it’s time to start your own thing and work for YOURSELF. Here are a few things that can help you get started as a VA without breaking the bank.

  1. Decide what type of clients you want- Is there an industry you’re proficient in? Will you want a lot of clients or will it be a “less is more” kind of thing? etc.
  2. Decide if you what type of business you want to be when it comes to taxes. Consult with a business attorney to decide if a sole-proprietorship or LLC or otherwise is best for you and your business.
  3. Create a quality based resume- It’s important for your prospective clients to see WHO they’re looking at and WHAT you have to offer. KSAs are extremely important because there are a LOT of VAs out there, but you need to be the “perfect fit” for your prospective client to choose you. Tell them who you are and what your good at, rather than your work history.
  4. Build a brand for yourself- Resume? Check. Website? Check. Social media? Check. Blog, vlog, webinars, etc. You are now a business and need to conduct yourself as such.
  5. Network- Get out there and show off! Mention your venture to friends, family, and random strangers. Seize any moment to talk about your business, but make sure to be low-key about it. Every moment is an opportunity!
